BNP Paribas – Over 50 years of tennis for all

BNP Paribas is proud to celebrate sponsoring tennis worldwide for over 50 years. BNP Paribas admires and shares the values that the sport of tennis embodies: fair play, quick responsiveness, and high performance. Through our decades of commitment to the players and organizations that make this sport possible, we are now a leading supporter of tennis globally. We sponsor the sport’s leading events in professional tennis, women and men’s tennis, community tennis, and wheelchair tennis.

Building on these partnerships and programs, BNP Paribas promotes tennis internationally through its “We Are Tennis by BNP Paribas” platform. Since 2011, this web platform wearetennis.bnpparibas and its social media accounts have brought together a community of tennis fans and enthusiasts from all around the world to share the latest news on the ATP, WTA and ITF circuits. Since 2015, BNP Paribas has also enabled fans to live their passion for tennis like never before thanks to the We Are Tennis Fan Academy. Internally we hold a tournament for employees across 30 different countries (the We Are Tennis Cup) which is one of the world’s leading corporate sporting events (3,500 participants each year).

BNP Paribas and Professional Tennis

It all started in 1973 when the French Tennis Federation (FFT) asked BNP Paribas to finance the construction of the center court box seats at the Roland Garros (French Open) stadium. This began our long series of partnerships, establishing sponsorships with tournaments and professional competitions around the world.

In the US, we have been the title sponsor of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA, since 2009, which is the world’s largest professional two-week combined ATP and WTA tour tennis tournament. We are the tournament’s longest-running sponsor.

Among our many partnerships, we are also the official sponsor of Roland Garros, sponsor three ATP Masters 1000 tournaments (the BNP Paribas Open,  Rolex Monte Carlo Masters, Internazionali BNP d’Ialia in Rome), the Open 13 Provence in Marseille, the Moselle Open in Metz and the BNP Paribas Nordic Open in Stockholm (ATP250) and the Internationaux de Strasbourg (WTA500).

We also sponsor Wheelchair tennis: title partner of the BNP Paribas World Team Cup; partner of the French Riviera Open, the WJP Challenge Tennis and the Swiss Open Geneva.

Supporting the Next Generation of Tennis Players

As a leading supporter of both amateur and professional tennis across the globe, we are committed to making the sport accessible for everyone in our communities and schools.

BNP Paribas Young Talent Team and Team Mac 1

In 2018, BNP Paribas launched the BNP Paribas Young Talent Team program in collaboration with the French Tennis Federation (FFT). The global program aims to support today’s promising young players and prepare them to become the champions of tomorrow. Currently the program supports more than 160 young tennis and wheelchair tennis hopefuls in building their careers through its “Team BNP Paribas Jeunes Talents” programme in France (under the patronage of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in association with the FFT), the United States (with John and Patrick McEnroe), Belgium (under the patronage of Justine Henin) and Italy, Poland, Canada (with Félix Auger-Aliassime), Japan and Portugal. BNP Paribas has also been a partner in the selection of ball boys and girls at the French Open for 25 years.

As a part of this program here in the US, we partnered with John and Patrick McEnroe to create the BNP Paribas Mac 1 program, which grants 10 young American players from the John McEnroe Tennis Academy the opportunity to receive year-round training and coaching to help them reach the highest levels of competition.

Further, the Bank is a driver of social projects linked to tennis alongside more than 20 national tennis federations and dozens of charities, based on a conviction that tennis is an even better sport when it is collective and geared towards young people.

BNP Paribas Open Scholarships

This year marks our tenth year of the BNP Paribas Open Scholarship Program. Each year during the BNP Paribas Open, the Bank awards four college scholarships to avid high school tennis players within the local community of Coachella Valley.

CityParks Tennis in New York City

We are also a proud sponsor of CityParks Tennis in New York City. CityParks Tennis provides free tennis lessons to more than 6,000 children between the ages of six and 16 within the five boroughs of New York City. The program is active in more than 39 parks across the five boroughs, including the BNP Paribas Aces Tennis Program for advanced junior players.

International Tennis Hall of Fame

BNP Paribas is a proud supporter of the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF). The International Tennis Hall of Fame museum, located in Newport Rhode Island, is beautiful and magnificent and must be seen by all tennis enthusiasts and any sports lover who has an interest in the historical aspect of sports. The Bank has supported the ITHF throughout the years through the Legends Ball and Induction celebrations, which benefit the ITHF’s mission to preserve tennis history in the museum collection, celebrate its greatest champions through on-site and digital storytelling, and inspire the next generation.

Points For Change

This new global initiative launched at the 2023 Roland Garros, is now active on all professional tournaments sponsored by BNP Paribas. The initiative aims to support local associations promoting education and inclusion through sport. For the second year in a row, every point scored (during singles matches at the BNP Paribas Open) will support the Girls on the Run local chapter that serves Coachella Valley.

#FAAPointsForChange

The #FAAPointsForChange solidarity program takes a new turn with the creation of excellence scholarships for Togolese university students throughout the year.

Since 2019, BNP Paribas has been supporting Félix Auger-Aliassime, a 24-year-old player ranked 23rd in the world, in the development of the #FAAPointsForChange solidarity project. As part of this program, each point won by Félix on the ATP circuit is monetized at $20 ($5 by the player and $15 by BNP Paribas) in favor of Togolese youth.

  • Since 2019, BNP Paribas, a major partner of global tennis, has been supporting Canadian tennis player Félix Auger-Aliassime in the deployment of his #FAAPointsForChange solidarity project in favor of youth education in Togo.
  • At the beginning of 2025, the program evolves towards the creation of excellence scholarships granted to talented students from rural areas to enable them to succeed in higher education. At the end of 2024, Félix Auger-Aliassime visited Togo to meet the various stakeholders of the project.
  • This program has been part of BNP Paribas’ commitment to future generations, both in the world of tennis and beyond. And it has inspired a whole new initiative since Summer 2023, as all points played during tournaments sponsored by BNP Paribas worldwide are also monetized in favor of projects aimed at supporting youth inclusion.
