Job Title: Assistant Vice President, Corporate Actions & Index Tracking

Duties: Manage equity indices in firm’s internal systems for trading and create index simulations for trading. Forecast trading impact due to corporate actions on constituents of bank licensed indices. Alert Front Office Trading and Middle Booking teams of all current and forecasted corporate actions. Ensure Corporate Actions work flow feed correctly in proprietary tools and trading positions are adjusted correctly in systems. Maintain cash dividends in all bank’s proprietary booking systems. Work with IT to develop index composition upload scripts to automate index constituents uploads into BNPP systems. Manage projects designed to improve daily trading operations. Automate and innovate processes that are currently manual and may be automated. *Telecommuting permitted 50%: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the BNP Paribas RCC Inc. office in Jersey City, NJ..

SALARY: $124,992.00 USD to $135,000.00 USD/ year

Work Schedule: 9am to 5pm, 40 hours a week. (Monday – Friday)

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (US or Foreign Equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, or related field (Will accept a Bachelor’s degree equivalent based on combination of degrees where determined to be equivalent to a US Bachelor’s degree by a qualified credential evaluation services) and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Master’s degree (US or Foreign Equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, or related field and two (2) years of experience in job offered or a related role. Responsibilities: 

  • This is a front office quantitative research role with a focus on the products traded in Americas with continuous business interaction. The applicant will be expected to:
  • Participate in the global research and development effort on various aspects of Financing business –more specifically on Stock Loan, Cash PB and Synthetic TRS trading activities in addition to Financial Resources Management optimization
  • Design, implement, and support optimizations on client locates and automated refinancing.
  • Contribute to the development off Inventory Management tools and axe processes.
  • Research and development of predictive, AI driven intelligence.
  • Contribute to development of systems, real-time data feeds and the core analytics library.
  • Collaborate with other Quant Research teams locally or globally for development and rollout of models
  • Supporting the trading desks on Quant Research built applications daily.
  • Take an active part in all front office activities by collaborating with other functions (Trading, Sales, IT and Market Risk) and Research globally and also develop relations with various stakeholders.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in computer science, mathematics or engineering.

  • Knowledge of statistics as well as optimization algorithms.
  • Excellent programming experience in Python, working on large, object-oriented codebases.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provides advice and resolutions to managers, HRBPs, and HR Centers Of Excellence (COEs) on a broad range of escalated employment issues including HR policy interpretation, performance management, HR investigations, employee discipline and misconduct, remediation of employment-related disputes, and employee terminations.
  • Strategically execute reductions-in-force, including working with the business to assess their future needs and structure, working with employment legal counsel to vet decisions and assess legal risk, generating agreements, preparing managers for termination meetings, and partners with HRBPs to coordinate communication day execution.
  • Responsible for preparation of due diligence, agreements and letters related to HR Involuntary Terminations.
  • Conduct internal investigations into employee allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, threats, violations of HR policies and other employment / legal matters.

  • Partner with managers to execute mid-year / year end appraisal reviews that require ER advisory as well as drafting Performance Improvement Plans.

  • Engages in cooperative dialog with employees dealing with medical issues and/or requesting medical accommodation.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $140,000 to $200,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.

Leadership and Management

▪ Lead and manage a team of AI engineers, data scientists, and developers. Recruit, mentor, and develop talent in AI, ML, and data science.

▪ Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

▪ Support the management of Americas AI budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources. Identify and leverage tax incentives schemes (e.g., Research Tax Credit) 

Project Management & Technology oversight

▪ Manage AI projects from concept to deployment, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and budget adherence. Identify and mitigate risks associated with AI projects. 

▪ Oversee the development and deployment of AI platforms and coordinate proper usage of state-of-the-art languages and frameworks.

Strategy & Stakeholders management

▪ Identify local business opportunities and prioritize AI projects to drive business value.

▪ Contribute to the development of the AI Strategy and ensure its execution, in alignment with the Group and CIB overall goals and objectives and communicate plans and results to local leadership. 

▪ Collaborate with business leaders to identify and define AI opportunities and develop use cases.

▪ Act as key enablers to educate, train and promote a data culture across Canada, evangelizing on AI capabilities and limitations, and supporting BL and Functions in embracing Group and CIB AI strategy

Innovation and R&D

▪ Supporting business lines industrialization plans by contributing to the identification new opportunities for ML applications with local teams.

▪ Stay up to date with AI trends, breakthroughs, and emerging technologies improve the performances of applications (current & past). Collaborate with academia, research institutions, and AI vendors to advance AI capabilities.

Work conditions: This position provides for standard working conditions in an office and a normal work schedule from Monday to Friday. This position requires little travel.

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Data Science, Development, Data Analytics with active leadership experience managing technical teams
  • Experience in and / or significant exposure to the financial services industry
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, database manipulation (SQL), statistical modeling, data analysis techniques and machine learning implementation.
  • Experience in developing and working on real-world machine learning projects.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Very strong work ethic and ability to deal with confidential information.

 

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Experience in managing project in Agile
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GIT, Jenkins, …) and MLOps (MLFlow).
  • Experience with containerization techniques (Docker & Kubernetes).
  • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of the English is required.
